Cheng-Feng Hsieh is a Steinway Artist. Hailing from Taiwan, he has performed throughout the Japan, Korea, United States, Europe, China and Taiwan. His growing prominence in China has made him become one of the most important pianists in his generation. Mr. Hsieh has played recitals in some of the most prestigious halls in Taiwan, especially the National Music Hall in Taipei. In China, Mr. Hsieh has held many concerts in various famous concert halls in Beijing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Ningbo, Nanning, Guiyang, Changchun, Shenyang and Dalian. Mr. Hsieh has also performed extensively in Europe, notably Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium, and Spain, and has made his mark in the United States, playing for audiences at various venues, such as Carnegie Hall in New York City. Mr. Hsieh owns abundant solo, chamber music and concerto repertoire. He has performed with Calder String Quartet, Queen City String Quartet and has collaborated with many world-renowned musicians. In addition, he has played with Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Hungarian Youth Symphony Orchestra, Dalian City Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Shenyang Conservatory in Dalian, and Tunghai Keyboard Electronic Symphony Orchestra. His interpretations of the piano concerti of Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Debussy have met with great acclaim. Mr. Hsieh is also the prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, including Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York; Camerata International Piano Competition in Indianapolis; Piano Concerto Competition in Cincinnati; and National Piano Competition in Taiwan. Mr. Hsieh has given many concerts and master classes around the world, both in the universities including Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Guangxi Art Music School, National Northeast Normal University in Changchun, Xiamen University, Tunghai University in Taichung, National Kaohsiung Normal University, National Chiao-Tung University in Hsinchu, Taitung University, and at the music festivals including International Piano Festival in Dalian, Music Festival in Tunghai University in Taiwan, International Saarbug Music Festival in Germany, International Vianden Music Festival in Luxembourg, and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Northeast Asia International Piano Festival in Changchun, Perugia Music Festival in Italy, Northeast Festival in Nagasaki, and the 6th, 7th Gulangyu International Piano Festival in Xiamen. He is also invited to be an interpreter for the Poland National Chopin Edition in Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Besides, he serves as the Jury in the International Kawai Piano Competition in Wuhan,the Euro International Youth Piano Competition in Ningbo and the 6th International Asian Youth Piano Competition in Hong Kong. Mr. Hsieh has earned his Doctorate in piano performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studies with Professors Eugene Pridonoff and Elizabeth Pridonoff. His dissertation - Beyond Traditional Perspectives: the Solo Piano Waltz in the Twentieth Century has been archived in Proquest and OhioLINK ETD Center, and has been published by Lambert Academic Publishing (LAP) in Germany. His new treatise - The Concept and Thought of the Interpretation in the Western Piano Music will be published soon by the most credible and the most famous music publisher (SMPH) in China. In addition, he has published many scholarly articles regarding to the piano music and performance practice in the core periodicals in China, including the most important and the most influential Chinese Journal – Journal of CCOM and Information Center for Social Sciences of Renmin University of China, and has regularly given lectures about piano performance, piano literature and piano pedagogy. Recently, he has been invited to the 1st Music Performance Conference of Central Conservatory and 2016 Piano Teaching Conference for University Teachers’ Education of Northeast Normal University. Mr. Hsieh was Foreign Expert Professor and the Director of the Piano Teaching and Research Section in Shenyang Conservatory of Music in Dalian, and now serves as Professor of Piano, Graduate Tutor, and the Director of Piano Art Research Center in Music Conservatory of Guizhou Normal University in China. He is also the Professor of Outstanding Alumnus at Tunghai University in Taiwan, the Senior Management of HurArt Music Institution in Korea, and Executive Director of Guizhou Music Association.
